Yes, it marks a time in an employee’s career when their service and loyalty lands them some well deserved time away from the office. But, do you understand how long service leave (LSL) works? Our HR Manager, Lisa has some tips to help you get in the know.
- Casual employees do have an entitlement to LSL if they have had continuous employment.
- Some employees have an entitlement to LSL after 7 years. LSL is paid at the current ordinary rate (i.e. excluding overtime payments) for the period of the leave. If an employee is paid above the award rate, the long service leave must be paid at the higher rate.
